All are welcome to attend free summer concerts at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, located on 122 Ash Street in Lewiston. On Friday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m., VoXX: Voice of Twenty will perform. The a cappella vocal ensemble presents sacred and secular works. On Wednesday, July 12, at 12:15 p.m., the guest artist will be organist Harold Stover. A graduate of The Juilliard School in New York, Stover is director of music at Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland, director of the Portland-based chamber chorus Renaissance Voices, and a faculty member at the Portland Conservatory of Music. On Wednesday, July 19, at 12:15 p.m., the Maine Music Society Chamber Singers will perform. The 18 voices of the Maine Music Society Chamber Singers are members of the MMS Chorale who delight in singing a cappella. Their repertoire includes a delightful mix of genres, including renaissance pieces, madrigals, spirituals, and ballads as well as modern songs. Though the concerts are free, donations to restore the Casavant Organ at the basilica are gratefully accepted. For more information about the summer concert series, contact Prince of Peace Parish at (207) 777-1200.
